Goat – World Music (2012) – Green LP

Rocket Recordings – Launch048 Goat presents themselves as a collective from Korpilombolo, a remote village in northern Sweden. Part of their mystique includes mythic backstory involving voodoo, curses, rituals, etc. How “true” it all is, or how much is part of their artistic persona, is somewhat vague. Reviews often highlight how Goat blend lots of influences without sounding disjointed. The Guardian praised its mix of Black Sabbath, Can, Fela Kuti, Funkadelic. This debut album fuses many genres and influences: psychedelic rock, Afro-groove, krautrock repetition, post-punk, Turkish rock, astral folk.
