One Man Dog is James Taylor’s fourth studio album. It was released on November 1, 1972. Produced by Peter Asher. Recordings took place in the summer of 1972. Some basic tracks were done at Taylor’s home studio, plus sessions in A&R Recording (New York) and Clover Recorders (Los Angeles). The album continues in the soft rock / folk‑rock style that Taylor was known for, but is more experimental in structure than some of his earlier works. Taylor is accompanied by frequent collaborators such as Danny Kortchmar (guitar), Leland Sklar (bass), Russ Kunkel (drums/percussion) among others. Guest artists include people like Linda Ronstadt, Carole King, Carly Simon, and even John McLaughlin on one track.
