Rock ‘n’ Roll is a covers album by John Lennon, released on February 17, 1975. It’s an homage to the 1950s and early 1960s rock and roll songs that inspired Lennon during his youth. The project started in 1973 with legendary producer Phil Spector, who brought his signature « Wall of Sound » production style. However, the sessions quickly became chaotic — heavy drinking, erratic behavior (including Spector firing a gun in the studio), and lost tapes all contributed to delays. Lennon eventually reclaimed the tapes and completed the album himself in late 1974 after recording his Walls and Bridges album.
